Beat your $7 iced latte in three minutes.
Not with a sad instant-coffee workaround. With a drink that looks like a cloud sitting inside a glass — and tastes like some café in Tulum should charge you twelve bucks for it. All it takes is coffee, cream, and a box of coconut water.
You know the afternoon slump too well. It's 5 p.m., you're fading, and the idea of standing in one more drive-through line makes you tired before you even get in the car. So you skip it. And the rest of the night runs on fumes and tap water.
Most iced coffee is espresso poured over a mountain of ice that melts in four minutes. By the time you're halfway through, you're drinking cold, brown water. Seven dollars for a drink that gives up halfway through.
Cloud coffee fixes the base with one swap. You pour coconut water over ice instead of plain water. The coconut softens the bitterness without adding sweetness. It brings a faint tropical note that makes flat iced coffee taste like something you'd order twice.
Then you froth a shot of espresso with a splash of cream and a drizzle of honey. Pour that foam over the coconut water and ice. It floats — pale and soft, sitting right on top like some barista spent five minutes on it. The first time you make this, you'll stare at the glass for a second before you pick it up.
Three minutes, start to finish. Under two bucks, out of pocket.
